Symbolism
Buff and scarlet are the colors traditionally associated with Support. Gold is emblematic of excellence, red is for valor and black is for constancy. The origins of the Battalion are in West Texas represented by the Franklin Mountains which are symbolized by the stylized black peaks. At night, a five point star is illuminated on the southern slope of the Franklin Mountains which further defines the landmark as a centerpiece of the local and military community. Also, mountains throughout history have symbolized constancy, eternity, and strength. The star also refers to Texas, the Lone Star State, the home of the organization. The band of blue at the foot of the mountain range alludes to the Rio Grande. Rivers support life in all terrains and are an appropriate symbol for the role Logisticians have in supporting the fighting force even in the most austere terrain. The ball and cross peen hammers highlight the logistics role. The stylized mechanized track underscores the modern military force.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 23 June 2008.
